I agree with you, this was the best movie of 2005! Haggis deserved those Oscars!!!!! Many people who were angry that Brokeback Mountain lost the Oscars blamed it on homophobia, but the reason was due to this movie had a big marketing campaign, not to mention its early release and releasing it on DVD before the Awards. Pretty clever, low-key strategy. I don't hate Brokeback Mountain, I think Ang Lee, Heath, and Gyllenhaal did a good job, but Crash really hit home with the prejudice themes.

The problem with the smart car is not the rigidity and crumple zones, its the mass, or lack thereof... you hit anything with substantially greater mass and the g-shock is going to be far greater in the Smartcar... that is what would kill you. I've been in Auto-Cross races with my eclipse that has had wrecks like this before. Someone tried to tap my rear fender but I dodged. 1 minute later 3 cars were wrecked. It's one thing to see a wreck from the stands, to be on the track when it happens.... frightening.
