There are so many people in America that will never own another home because of the sub prime rates. PLUS many people who werent in the "know" of the bnkrpcty laws. So not only do these fine people lose their homes but they are garnished possibly for the rest of their lives. The banks didnt lose anything. Debt is worth more than an actual loan its @ the defaulted intrest rate plus what other interest is added by state interest. Housing market down, collection dept up. Thats how a monopoly works

Dave has a point. New GM/Ford cars are of much better quality than they were 20 years ago. Chrysler, maybe not so much, they had great quality in the late 80's and 90's but it really started to slip when they went back to their old ways of the 1970's (big engine, small car and not caring about anything else) I drive a 1986 Volvo 740 Turbo, it was $25k in 1986, that was a lot of money then. Think of the cars you could get today for $25k. It was top of the line back then, but it still makes since.

i agree with everything u said dave, and also i noticed that GM has either been in this situation for a long time, in 2004, GM cat Oldsmobiles form their lineup but it never was baught by anyone or any company, so i am guessing GM was struggleing even before this crisis. and also, some of these newer cars are more reliable but i still find that a well maintained car from the 90's and even into the 70's miight outlast some of the newer cars

Crown Vics make terrible Police cars for one reason, the position of their fuel cell, They pull someone over, someone not looking drives past and doesn't see the police car, they hit it, and the policeman it dead, and possibly the people in the car not paying attention, and possibly the pulled over car. Even though that is a huge issue for the Crown Vic, They still place the fuel cell in the extremely dangerous spot for 20+ years. The new charger is a much better police car.

The US Government can't help bailout Citibank without risking its AAA debt rating. If Congress approves a Citi bailout, it will be worse than the $700 billion given to Treasury/Paulson. Don't get me wrong, bankruptcy is very bad for the financial system. But bailout then bankruptcy is even worse.

I am still holding to my call that Citi will declare bankruptcy. Today's action in the stock price tells me the recent up move was short covering and speculation. If Citi's stock price falls below $5 this week, which I believe will happen, look for interesting thing next week. No matter how many balouts the U.S. government does it will not help. I'm sorry if I was mis-understood. What I meant by saying that was as long as the price is going higher, above the 50-day MA and towards and over 200-day MA, we should be more confident in the future for gold. Getting stuck on daily movements of the price is gambling. We are investors and looking for the long term plan. Gold is coming upon days were $50 to $100 moves are common.
